Previous versions of the Nokia Software Updater came with a big flaw that did not allow Non-Windows XP and Vista users to update the firmware on their computers. Nokia has taken a first step to resolve that issue by releasing a version of the NSU that supports Windows 7.

With many computers now shipping with Windows 7 preloaded, this move was expected. This release was announced by folks at Nokia Beta Labs who are calling it a release candidate. This obviously means that the final version will be expected in the months to come.

Along with Windows 7 support, the new version has added some features and boasts of improved USB connectivity. Nokia has confirmed that any critical improvements needed for this new version will only be included in the actual release, while smaller items will be fixed in coming releases. In the meantime, you might want to check the updater out on your new Windows 7 laden PC.
